Definitions

Direct Program hours spent presenting an abstinence message . The majority of the time is spent with students is spent delivering a direct abstinence message.

Indirect Program hours where the primary teaching is not abstinence. The message may be supportive (character education for example) but is not abstinence per se.

Self Selecting Program target audience has voluntarily chosen to participate in the program. For example, an after-school program.

Mandatory Program participants are required to attend. For example, a required health class may be the setting where the program is offered, and the students are part of the health class.

Program Rep Class or course material is taught by someone sent from the program, not by the local public school teacher.

On Site Class or course is taught by someone already at the site, such as the public school teacher.

Start Date Start date of this class or activity, not the start date of the grant or project.

End Date End date of this class or activity, not the end date of the grant or project.

Target Audience The intended audience for this particular program or activity. “8 th grade health class students” or “After school parochial catechism class” for example.

Number of Regular Participants Mostly refers to an after school program type setting where this person attends on a regular basis. We assume that in a classroom setting all on the roster will be “Regular Participants”

Number of Occasional Participants Again for after school program settings and the like, a student who attends occasionally, or drops in and out.
